Southeast AT Access Site staff developed a social story, What is Coronavirus?, to help people with cognitive impairments understand the coronavirua and better cope with anxiety due to the recent change in their routines. The story is already circulating in schools and among community service provider staff in Western and North Central Kansas.
The PSH&TC self-advocacy group, STAND, developed a COVID-19 Self-Direction List of Tips for people to use when dealing with staff during the KS Stay at Home executive order. It’s very practical and generalizes well for people who are trying to figure out how to self-direct in trying times. Individuals served by CILS in the community are using it now.
